I've been a friend and fan of Ralph Pucci — the man and his gallery — since I first met him while I was an editor at Town & Country. I was thrilled when Michael Wollaeger of Interiors asked me to profile Pucci's mannequin production (where the business really began) for the June/July issue.

I can't encourage you enough to stop by Pucci's ever-inspiring gallery on West 18th street. His vision might be beyond most of our bank accounts to bring home, but it really is one of my favorite spots in all of NYC.

An editor (retailer, manufacturer, etc.) can easily spend more than half of her/his time attending trade shows around the globe, discovering what's new. Typically these shows are in "generic" convention centers where the focus is on what's being debuted. KBIS, ICFF, the Gift Show, you name it. My visit in February to Ambiente Messe Frankfurt, put everything in perspective.
<img src="http://payload173.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5761409/Screen Shot 2013-06-06 at 7.20.55 AM.png" width="422" height="510" width_o="422" height_o="510" src_o="http://payload173.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5761409/Screen Shot 2013-06-06 at 7.20.55 AM_o.png" data-mid="31136027" border="0" align="left"/>
Dish mania at the Portugese brand Vista Allegre.

I've been to Maison et Objet and even puttered around Salone years ago but I've never seen such an impressive production. Ambiente is the world's largest consumer goods and indoor trade fair. Yes, I have the "dish gene" but it's hard not to be wowed. Here's the report and slideshow I did for the Huffington Post.

I'm late to share two stories I wrote over the past couple of months for Editor At Large. Here is a my profile of three great museums who are unveiling impressive renovations: Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum, the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. I'm particularly fond of this photograph by Pedro Pegenaute of the new atrium in Amsterdam.

For last month's ICFF, I reported on the brilliant Carrot Concept growing in El Salvador, which debuted at Wanted Design.
<img src="http://payload173.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5761359/Screen Shot 2013-06-05 at 9.50.26 PM.png" width="446" height="292" width_o="446" height_o="292" src_o="http://payload173.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5761359/Screen Shot 2013-06-05 at 9.50.26 PM_o.png" data-mid="31124733" border="0" align="left"/>
Here is that story, where you'll also see this beautiful table by Ernesto Pastore and chair by Claudia & Harry Washington, co-founders of the Carrot Concept.

My first "piece" for Martha Stewart Living is just out in the March issue. It's a short-and-sweet profile on my dear friend Louisa Conrad and her husband Lucas Farrell's Big Picture Farm outside Brattleboro, VT. Their goat milk caramels are now available at Anthropologie stores and Le Pain Quotidien restaurants, as well as wonderful specialty food stores across the country. (I was visiting them a year ago when Eva, the first "kid" of 2012, was born, so personally I'm glued to their blog to see when this year's will appear -- any day now!) Louisa and I went to Nightingale together for many years, and I couldn't think of a better subject to profile to kick off what I hope will be more for MSL. <img src="http://payload136.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5038423/marthastewart_1200.gif" width="1200" height="1514" width_o="2048" height_o="2585" src_o="http://payload136.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/5038423/marthastewart_o.gif" data-mid="27002674" border="0" align="left"/>

With its reputation as one of the most charming cities, not to mention its rich history, Charleston has also become a no-longer-silent star in the foodie world.I spent a week eating and drinking my way through the South Carolina city "researching" the story, and catching up with a childhood friend, a recent transplant to Charleston.

I was honored to be included as a contributor, as well, with a picture from my dear friend's wedding in Jaipur.

I'm overdue mentioning a terrific book published by Rizzoli last year that I happened to ghostwrite, Made in New York. Photographer Ted Sann reveals the studios and workshops of talented artists and designers across New York, ranging from bookbinder Paper Dragon Books to bicycle builder Coast Cycles, from embroiderer Penn & Fletcher to glassblower Michiko Sakano Glass, from calligrapher Bernard Maisner to neon fabricator Lite Brite Neon. <img src="http://payload122.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/4740132/Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 9.53.45 AM.png" width="598" height="567" width_o="598" height_o="567" src_o="http://payload122.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/4740132/Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 9.53.45 AM_o.png" data-mid="25291314" border="0" align="left"/>
I'd swear by this book -- I love knowing all of these amazing art forms still being made in New York -- even if I weren't lucky enough to have collaborated on the project! Here's my shoutout in the introduction:
<img src="http://payload122.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/4740132/Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 11.09.46 AM.png" width="578" height="260" width_o="578" height_o="260" src_o="http://payload122.cargocollective.com/1/4/158013/4740132/Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 11.09.46 AM_o.png" data-mid="25291813" border="0" align="left"/>
The book shares 50 beautiful reasons to "buy local". I promise you'll enjoy reading it as much as I loved working on it.
